Under Ballast Mat (UBM)

UBM is a flexible mat laid between the prepared track bed and the ballast stones. By providing elastic decoupling, a protective interface beneath the ballast, elastic separation and load distribution, it helps reduce structure-borne vibration and protect the surface below. It is suitable for project-specific assessments on bridges, in tunnels and on conventional railway lines. Vibration reduction depends on many characteristics of the railway system and must be verified separately for each project.
